Marvel Rivals Slow Launch Fix: Shader Compilation

Author:Kristen Update:Jan 23,2025

Many Marvel Rivals players are experiencing frustratingly long shader compilation times on launch. This guide provides a workaround to significantly reduce this delay.

Game loading times can vary, but Marvel Rivals' lengthy shader compilation on PC is proving particularly problematic for many players. Shaders are crucial programs that manage visual elements like lighting and color in 3D games. While the game should handle this automatically, a workaround exists.

A community solution has emerged to resolve this issue. The fix involves adjusting Nvidia control panel settings:

  1. Access Nvidia Control Panel: Open your Nvidia control panel.
  2. Adjust Shader Cache Size: Locate the global settings and find the Shader Cache Size option. Set this value to a size less than or equal to your VRAM. Note that options are limited (5GB, 10GB, 100GB), so select the closest option to your VRAM capacity.

This adjustment not only drastically reduces shader compilation time (from minutes to seconds) but also eliminates the "Out of VRAM memory" error reported by some users.

While a permanent fix from NetEase is pending, this community solution offers an immediate improvement to gameplay experience. Until an official patch is released, this method provides a practical workaround.

Marvel Rivals is currently available on PS5, PC, and Xbox Series X|S.
