Application Description:

The OBD 2 engine ECU diagnostics tool, when paired with a Wi-Fi/Bluetooth ELM327 adapter, is an essential asset for any car enthusiast or professional mechanic looking to dive deep into their vehicle's health. This innovative application offers a comprehensive suite of diagnostic capabilities, allowing users to effortlessly access and interpret data from various electronic vehicle blocks.

By using the ELM327 OBDII adapter, you can display real-time data in graphical format, which not only helps in monitoring the vehicle's performance but also allows you to save these graphs for future analysis. This feature is particularly useful for tracking changes over time or diagnosing intermittent issues. Additionally, the tool efficiently shows and resets engine fault codes / DTC trouble codes, ensuring you can swiftly address any detected problems.

One of the standout features is the ability to set custom min/max values for each sensor/PID. When these thresholds are breached, an "alarm" is triggered, alerting you to potential issues before they escalate. This level of customization ensures that you stay on top of your vehicle's health with precision.

The diagnostics tool supports both Bluetooth and Wi-Fi ELM327 OBD adapters, providing flexibility in how you connect to your vehicle. For optimal performance, it is recommended to use adapters version 1.5, as there have been numerous complaints about the reliability of version 2.1.

Attention!

It's crucial to note that ELM327 chips are compatible only with vehicles equipped with OBD2 support. This includes:

  • Cars manufactured in the USA since 1996
  • In European countries since 2001 (gasoline cars) and since 2003 (diesel)
  • In Japan, since approximately 2000

Beyond standard OBDII parameters, the application supports special parameters for various car brands, enhancing its versatility. Here are some of the supported brands and their specific options:

  • BMW - (DIESEL, E91+AT)
  • BYD - (MT20U, ABS)
  • Chery - (MT20U, MT20U2, ActecoME797)
  • Chrysler/Dodge - (DIESEL, AT)
  • Citroen - (C4, C5, Sagem2000, CAN/AT6, EDC16C3, MEV17.4.2)

The list of supported models and parameters is continually updated to provide the most current and comprehensive diagnostic capabilities. Users can select the types of required PIDs in the "Settings / PID types" for convenience, ensuring that only relevant data is displayed.

For certain car brands, such as some Mitsubishi models, the tool offers the ability to control various systems directly, such as turning on a cooling fan or a gasoline pump. To read MUT parameters and control actuators on Mitsubishi models with CAN bus (like Montero/Pajero IV, Outlander 2), you need to set up a profile with the ISO 9141-2 protocol, while keeping the remaining profiles set to ISO 15765-4 CAN (11bit 500K) or automatic. Please note that not all Mitsubishi CAN-bus models support ISO 9141-2 connectivity.

The diagnostics tool also offers ample opportunities for users to create their own parameters, tailoring the experience to their specific needs.
