Improving Game Stability and Localization

Developer FLINT announced on January 20th that ASTRA: Knights of Veda will remove English dubbing support on January 23rd, 2025, to enhance game stability and localization quality. Regular maintenance on the 23rd will implement this change, also affecting German, Spanish, Portuguese, Indonesian, and Italian. Korean, Japanese, Traditional Chinese, Simplified Chinese, French, Thai, and Russian voiceovers will remain.

While English text support continues, in-game voiceovers will switch to Japanese for regions outside Korea. FLINT clarified that this change won't affect in-game chat functionality in any of the removed languages. The developers reassured players of their commitment to improving the game experience.

Other Gacha Games That Removed English Voiceovers

ASTRA: Knights of Veda isn't alone in this decision. Several other gacha games have also reduced or eliminated English voiceovers. These include:

• War of the Visions: Final Fantasy Brave Exvius (Square Enix): Removed English voiceovers for new content starting May 2024, prioritizing Japanese. Existing content retains English dubbing.
• Aether Gazer (Yostar Games): Completely removed English voiceovers in February 2024 due to cited financial difficulties, focusing resources on other game aspects.
• Snowbreak: Containment Zone (Amazing Seasun Games): Removed English voiceovers in December 2023 after evaluating player preferences and prioritizing optimal game experience. Some content switched to Japanese voiceovers starting with Version 1.4.

These decisions largely stem from prioritizing the language preferred by the majority of players and managing resource allocation. Maintaining English voiceovers over extended periods in gacha games, with their ongoing content releases, can be costly. Reallocating these resources allows developers to focus on long-term game health and features valued by the player base.
