On February 7, 2025, inZOI game director Hyungjun Kim took to Discord to tease an innovative Karma system. This system transforms deceased Zois into ghosts, based on their accumulated Karma points.

Despite inZOI's emphasis on realism, Kim introduces a paranormal twist with the Karma system and ghost mechanics. He explains, "If a Zoi dies with enough karma points, they move on to the afterlife, but those who don’t make the cut have to remain as ghosts until they restore sufficient karma points." The specific actions required to restore these points remain undisclosed.

Kim further highlighted the intention to keep ghost interactions limited, ensuring they complement rather than overshadow the core gameplay. In the Early Access version, players can engage in special conversations with ghost Zois "at set times under certain conditions."

Expressing his vision for the game's future, Kim stated, "While we’re committed to refining the realistic elements of inZOI first, I’d love to explore more fantasy-driven elements in the future. Occasionally stepping away from the game's native, ultra-realistic setting could add an extra layer of fun to our simulation of this vast and complex concept we call life!"

inZOI Karma Interaction Briefly Revealed

In August 2024, inZOI's publisher, Krafton Inc., collaborated with content creators to promote the game. One of these partners, MadMorph, briefly showcased the Karma system in his video.

About fifteen minutes into the video, MadMorph demonstrates "Karma Interactions," a feature allowing Zois to perform actions that can either boost or diminish their Karma points. Examples include mischievous acts like secretly farting on another Zoi's face, or positive actions such as "Throw Away Trash" or "Like a Friend’s post," though these were not demonstrated in the video.

While the Early Access version of inZOI, launching on Steam on March 28, 2025, will focus on gameplay "while the Zois are still alive," Kim assures that Karma Interactions will play a more significant role in future updates. Fans eager to explore this new dimension of gameplay will have to wait just under six weeks for the Early Access release.
