Alan Wake 2 Aims for Naughty Dog Status

Remedy Entertainment's ambition is to become a leading force in the industry. Inspired by Naughty Dog, particularly their Uncharted series, Alan Wake 2 director Kyle Rowley envisions Remedy as "the European equivalent" of the acclaimed studio.

Rowley, in a Behind The Voice podcast interview, detailed how this influence shaped Quantum Break and subsequently, Alan Wake 2. He explicitly stated their goal: "We should aspire to be the European version of Naughty Dog."

This inspiration is clear in Alan Wake 2's cinematic presentation, lauded for its stunning visuals and compelling narrative. The game's success has cemented Remedy's status as a top European developer.

However, Remedy's aspirations extend beyond the horror genre. Naughty Dog's mastery of cinematic single-player experiences, notably with Uncharted and The Last of Us (the latter a record-breaking award-winner), serves as a benchmark.

Over a year post-launch, Alan Wake 2 continues to receive updates enhancing gameplay across all platforms. These enhancements include significant optimizations for the PS5 Pro, introducing a new "Balanced" graphics option that combines the best of Performance and Quality modes.

These updates also refined graphic settings for smoother framerates and clearer visuals, alongside resolving minor bugs impacting gameplay, particularly within the Lake House expansion.
