NBA 2K25's January Update: Season 4 Prep and Gameplay Enhancements

NBA 2K25 has launched its first major update of 2025, paving the way for Season 4's January 10th debut. This comprehensive patch introduces a range of improvements, including visual enhancements and gameplay refinements across various game modes.

The update focuses on several key areas:

  • Visual Upgrades: Player likeness updates for numerous players and coaches (including Stephen Curry and Joel Embiid), along with court corrections (Los Angeles Clippers logo and Emirates NBA Cup court) and uniform sponsor patch fixes, enhance the game's visual fidelity.

  • Gameplay Enhancements (Patch 4.0): Significant gameplay adjustments aim for increased realism. "Light Pressure" shot defense is now categorized into Weak, Moderate, and Strong, providing more granular shot feedback. Ball-rim physics have been tweaked to reduce excessively long rebounds. Defensive mechanics have been updated to prevent unfair disruptions of skill dunks, and the Offensive 3 Seconds rule has been implemented in 1v1 modes.

  • Mode-Specific Improvements: Stability and progression issues across MyCAREER, MyTEAM, and MyNBA modes have been addressed. MyCAREER features progression fixes and prevents skipping scheduled NBA Cup games. MyTEAM boasts visual updates, fixes for saving Favorite Plays, and challenge progression blockers. MyNBA, MyNBA Online, and The W have received stability improvements, resolving issues such as NBA Cup simulation problems and league contraction.

GENERAL:

  • Season 4 launches January 10th at 8 AM PT/11 AM ET/4 PM GMT.
  • Resolved a rare hang in Play Now Online when changing lineups.
  • Corrected player rankings on the Play Now Online leaderboard.
  • Addressed logo scaling on the Los Angeles Clippers court and updated the Emirates NBA Cup court for accuracy.
  • Updated sponsor patches for several teams (Atlanta Hawks, Brooklyn Nets, Chicago Bulls, Indiana Pacers, Washington Wizards).

GAMEPLAY:

  • Refined "Light Pressure" coverage into three levels (Weak, Moderate, Strong) for detailed shot feedback.
  • Prevented trailing defenders from unfairly interrupting skill dunks.
  • Adjusted ball-rim physics to reduce excessively long rebounds.
  • Implemented the Offensive 3 Seconds rule for 1v1 Proving Grounds and Ante-Up.

CITY/PRO-AM/REC/THEATER/PROVING GROUNDS:

  • Significant performance, stability, and visual improvements in The City.
  • Resolved issues with REP multipliers and clothing changes.
  • Ensured alternate uniforms have a chance to be selected in Pro-Am Away games.

MyCAREER/QUESTS/PROGRESSION:

  • Numerous fixes to improve quest experiences and ensure proper progression.
  • Addressed an issue preventing the Maximum Overdrive badge from unlocking.
  • Prevented skipping dynamically scheduled NBA Cup games during simulation.

MyTEAM:

  • Fixed issues with Breakout game counts, mini-game award icons, saving Favorite Plays, and challenge progression.
  • Improved Auction House menu visuals.
  • Updated Player Card visuals and other menus.

MyNBA/THE W:

  • Various stability fixes for MyNBA, MyNBA Online, and The W.
  • Resolved issues with league contraction and NBA Cup simulation using "Start Today."
