Ubisoft's Under-the-Radar NFT Release

As reported by Eurogamer on December 20th, Ubisoft quietly launched Captain Laserhawk: The G.A.M.E., a top-down multiplayer arcade shooter with a cryptocurrency-based access system.

According to Eden Online, the game expands the universe of the Netflix series, Captain Laserhawk: A Blood Dragon Remix, incorporating elements from popular Ubisoft franchises like Watch Dogs and Assassin's Creed.

Limited Access and NFT Citizen ID Cards

The game's online competitive multiplayer mode is limited to 10,000 players. Access requires purchasing a Citizen ID Card NFT, which tracks player statistics, achievements, and evolves based on in-game performance.

To obtain a card, players need a crypto wallet and must purchase a Niji Warrior ID card from Ubisoft's dedicated page on Magic Eden for $25.63. Citizens can also relinquish their citizenship and resell their IDs, with potential value fluctuations based on in-game achievements.

Official Launch and Early Access

Ubisoft's Magic Eden page indicates a full launch in Q1 2025, but early access is granted to those who secured IDs early.

A Netflix Series Inspired by Far Cry 3's Blood Dragon DLC

Connection to Far Cry 3's Blood Dragon

Captain Laserhawk: A Blood Dragon Remix, the Netflix series, is an animated spin-off of Far Cry 3's Blood Dragon expansion. Set in an alternate 1992, the series portrays a dystopian technocracy ruled by a megacorporation, Eden. The story follows Dolph Laserhawk, a supersoldier, and his journey after defecting from Eden Tech Military.

Gameplay and Narrative Influence

While Ubisoft hasn't detailed the game's storyline, it shares the same universe. Players assume the role of citizens under Eden's control and can influence the narrative by improving their citizen scores through missions, leaderboard rankings, and community engagement.
