Chrono Trigger-Inspired RPG "Threads of Time" Coming to Xbox Series X/S and PC

Riyo Games' upcoming 2.5D RPG, Threads of Time, a nostalgic homage to classic turn-based JRPGs like Chrono Trigger and Final Fantasy, is headed to Xbox Series X/S and PC via Steam. Revealed at the Xbox showcase during Tokyo Game Show 2024, the game's release date remains unannounced, as do potential releases on PS5 and Nintendo Switch.

Already generating buzz as a potential rival to Sea of Stars, Threads of Time boasts retro-style charm with modern polish. The indie studio, Riyo Games, describes their vision as creating "retro-infused RPGs that awaken treasured childhood memories," born from a childhood promise to create fantastical adventures.

The game features vibrant 2.5D pixel art and a diverse cast of characters journeying through various eras, from dinosaurs to robots. A compelling narrative unfolds across centuries, culminating in a threat to the very fabric of time. Complementing the pixel art are high-quality anime cutscenes that enhance the story's depth.

Players will meet a captivating ensemble, including Rye (a swordsman from 1000 AD), Bo (a veterinarian from 12,000,000 BC), Rin (a kitsune from 2400 AD), and more.
