Resident Evil's Mikami and Killer7's Suda51 Hint at a Possible Sequel and Remaster

During a recent Grasshopper Direct presentation, the creators of Resident Evil and Killer7, Shinji Mikami and Goichi "Suda51" Suda, respectively, fueled speculation about a potential sequel and a complete edition of the cult classic, Killer7.

The focus of the presentation was the upcoming remastered version of Shadows of the Damned. However, the conversation shifted to the future, with Mikami expressing a strong desire to see Suda51 develop a Killer7 sequel, citing it as a personal favorite.

Suda51 mirrored Mikami's enthusiasm, suggesting a sequel was a possibility, even playfully tossing around potential titles like "Killer11" or "Killer7: Beyond."

Killer7, a 2005 action-adventure game for GameCube and PlayStation 2, is known for its blend of horror, mystery, and Suda51's signature over-the-top style. The game follows Harman Smith, a man capable of controlling seven distinct personalities, each with unique abilities. Despite its cult following, it has yet to receive a sequel. Even after a 2018 PC remaster, Suda51 expressed interest in revisiting the original vision with a "Complete Edition," an idea Mikami jokingly dismissed as "lame."

Further discussion revealed that the original game concept included extensive dialogue for the character Coyote, which could be incorporated into this hypothetical "Complete Edition."

The mere suggestion of a sequel and a complete edition ignited considerable fan excitement. While no firm commitments were made, the developers' shared enthusiasm has generated significant buzz around the future of Killer7. The final decision, according to Suda51, will be whether to prioritize "Killer7: Beyond" or the "Complete Edition."
