Seasons and weather in *Monster Hunter Wilds* add dynamic variety to the Forbidden Lands, significantly impacting both the game's visuals and gameplay mechanics. Here's a comprehensive look at how these elements play out in the game.
In *Monster Hunter Wilds*, the Forbidden Lands experience two distinct seasons: Fallow and Plenty. The game begins in the Fallow season, characterized by a harsh environment with severe weather conditions and scarce resources. This scarcity leads to heightened aggression among monsters, who are more likely to attack each other during this period.
On the other hand, the Season of Plenty offers a warmer and more vibrant atmosphere, with an abundance of flora and less hostility among small monsters. During Plenty, resources like Endemic Life and plants are more plentiful, making it a celebrated time for both the villagers and players of *Monster Hunter Wilds*.
Additionally, there are brief but intense weather events known as Inclemency that occur between seasons. These events intensify the weather and often set the stage for dramatic encounters with Apex Predators. A notable example is the Pinnacle of the Pack Assignment, where players battle the Alpha Doshaguma during a Sandtide, a fierce sandstorm accompanied by lightning. Throughout *Monster Hunter Wilds*, players will encounter various unique weather events during these Apex Predator fights.
To stay informed about the current seasons and weather, players can refer to the HUD and map in *Monster Hunter Wilds*. The HUD displays icons in the bottom left corner indicating the time of day and season. For more detailed information, players can access the map and press the prompted button to view the Environment Overview, which provides specifics on the current weather and season.
Optional Quests in the game are also set during specific times of day and seasons, temporarily transporting players to these environments regardless of the current season in the main game.

Given the significant impact of seasons on the flora and fauna of the Forbidden Lands, players may find it beneficial to switch between Fallow and Plenty depending on their needs. Fortunately, *Monster Hunter Wilds* allows players to change the seasons and weather.
To do this, players must set up their tent and rest. Within the tent, navigate to the BBQ Menu and select Rest. From there, you can choose the desired Environment and Time for your Hunter to wake up in.
However, resting comes with a cost of 300 Guild Points and is only available to High Rank Hunters. It's important to note that you cannot rest during an active quest.
That covers the essentials of seasons and weather in *Monster Hunter Wilds*. Understanding and manipulating these elements can greatly enhance your gameplay experience.
*Monster Hunter Wilds is available now on PlayStation, Xbox, and PC.*
