Capcom producer Shuhei Matsumoto has fueled speculation about the return of beloved original characters from Marvel vs. Capcom 2. Speaking at EVO 2024, Matsumoto stated that their return in a new game is "always a possibility," leaving the door open for Amingo, Ruby Heart, and SonSon to reappear.

The upcoming release of the "Marvel vs. Capcom Fighting Collection: Arcade Classics," which includes Marvel vs. Capcom 2, provides a prime opportunity to reintroduce these characters to a new generation of players. "If there are enough people who are interested in these characters, then who knows? Maybe there is a chance they could appear in Street Fighter 6 or another fighting game," Matsumoto explained.
