Assassin's Creed Shadows' Release Date Shifted to March 20, 2025

Ubisoft has announced another delay for the highly anticipated Assassin's Creed Shadows, pushing the release date back to March 20, 2025. Initially slated for a February 14th launch, this latest postponement adds five weeks to the already revised schedule. The publisher cites the need for further refinement and polishing, incorporating valuable player feedback.

The game's journey to release has been marked by delays. The first, announced in late September 2024, shifted the launch from November 15th to February 14th, 2025. While the initial delay was attributed to unspecified reasons, Ubisoft later clarified that development challenges related to historical accuracy were involved.

This second delay, however, directly addresses player feedback. Marc-Alexis Coté, Vice President and Executive Producer of the Assassin's Creed franchise, emphasized Ubisoft's commitment to delivering a high-quality, immersive experience shaped by ongoing player interaction. He reiterated that the extra time allows for crucial refinement and polishing.

Following the September delay, Ubisoft offered pre-order refunds and free access to the first expansion for those who pre-ordered. Whether similar compensation will be offered for this shorter delay remains unannounced. The smaller timeframe might mitigate potential player frustration compared to the previous three-month postponement.

This additional delay could also be linked to Ubisoft's internal investigation into its development practices, launched to enhance player-centricity. The company faced record losses in its 2023 fiscal year, prompting this review. Prioritizing player feedback through this delay aligns with the investigation's goals.
