The developers of Suikoden 1 and 2 HD Remaster dedicated five years to ensuring the remaster was a faithful tribute to the beloved originals. In a revealing interview with Dengeki Online on March 4, 2025, the team behind Suikoden I & II HD Remaster (Suikoden 1 and 2 HDR) shared insights into their painstaking process.

Initially announced in 2022 with a planned release for 2023, the game faced delays and is now set to launch this year. Takahiro Sakiyama, the IP and Game Director for the Suikoden Gensho series, explained that the need for extensive debugging and further review necessitated pushing back the release date.

Tatsuya Ogushi, the Game Director for Suikoden 1 and 2 HDR, elaborated on the approach, stating, "Rather than rushing forward, we took a step back to assess the situation thoroughly. After discussions with Sakiyama on quality standards, it became evident that we needed to address several areas meticulously."

Naito emphasized to the team, "This remaster is our first move in bringing the Suikoden IP back to life, and we cannot afford to falter at this stage. Our directive was clear: 'make it solid.' We knew that if we released a subpar product at the outset, it could jeopardize the entire revival effort."
