Starfield Creation Hints at PS5 Release with PlayStation Logo Appearance

Speculation about Starfield coming to PlayStation 5 intensified recently after fans noticed a PlayStation logo on Bethesda's official Creations website. The logo was linked to a work-in-progress ship decals Creation for Starfield, which was later removed. Despite the removal, fans are buzzing with the possibility that Bethesda's sci-fi game, which has been exclusive to PC and Xbox, might soon be available on PS5.

They have added the Playstation logo to a creation. (I think they are beta testers, the logo only appears on one creation)

The discovery has sparked discussions about potential content updates or even a new expansion to coincide with Starfield's possible PS5 launch. Following the lukewarm reception of the Shattered Space expansion, Bethesda has been relatively quiet about Starfield. However, Microsoft is expected to host a summer showcase this year, which could be the perfect platform to unveil more about Starfield's future.

Bethesda has teased "exciting things" planned for Starfield in 2024, amid growing fan frustration over the lack of updates and communication. In June 2024, Bethesda reaffirmed its commitment to the game, promising at least one more story expansion after Shattered Space. In an interview with the YouTube channel MrMattyPlays, Bethesda Game Studios' Todd Howard expressed the studio's ambition to release annual story expansions for "hopefully a very long time."

Starfield was launched in September 2023, marking Bethesda's first new intellectual property in years and its first mainline single-player game since Microsoft acquired parent company ZeniMax Media in March 2021. IGN's review of Starfield gave it a 7/10, noting: “Starfield has a lot of forces working against it, but eventually the allure of its expansive roleplaying quests and respectable combat make its gravitational pull difficult to resist.”

In January, Microsoft's gaming head, Phil Spencer, hinted that Starfield might come to PS5. Reports from as early as March 2024 suggested that Starfield and MachineGames' Indiana Jones and the Great Circle were under consideration for PS5. While Indiana Jones and the Great Circle was confirmed for a PS5 release in spring 2025, Starfield remains unconfirmed, though Spencer's comments keep the possibility alive.

Several Xbox games are already available on PS5, including Rare's Sea of Thieves, Tango Gameworks' Hi-Fi Rush, and Obsidian's Grounded and Pentiment. Microsoft also publishes Minecraft on PlayStation consoles and plans to release Doom: The Dark Ages and Ninja Gaiden 4 on PS5 later this year. Playground's Forza Horizon 5 is also slated for a PS5 release. There are even whispers that Microsoft may finally bring Halo to PlayStation after decades of exclusivity.

Spencer has explained that Xbox's multiplatform strategy is partly driven by the need to increase revenue for Microsoft's gaming division, especially after the massive $69 billion acquisition of Activision Blizzard.

“We run a business,” Spencer stated last August. “It’s definitely true inside of Microsoft the bar is high for us in terms of the delivery we have to give back to the company. Because we get a level of support from the company that’s just amazing and what we’re able to go do.

“So I look at this, how can we make our games as strong as possible? Our platform continues to grow, on console, on PC, and on cloud. It’s just going to be a strategy that works for us.”

Bethesda Game Studios, currently managing five teams including Starfield, Elder Scrolls 6, Fallout 76, mobile projects, and external development partnerships, remains a bustling hub of activity.
