Nintendo's latest financial report has unveiled a series of exciting initiatives designed to expand their iconic IPs. These announcements not only signal significant developments for the gaming community but also set the stage for the much-anticipated Nintendo Switch 2. Dive in to discover what these initiatives entail and what they mean for the future of gaming with Nintendo.
Nintendo has confirmed several first-party titles set to launch in 2025, as detailed in their recent financial report. Fans can look forward to Donkey Kong Country Returns HD on January 16th and Xenoblade Chronicles X: Definitive Edition on March 20th. Additionally, Pokémon Legends: Z-A and Metroid Prime 4: Beyond are slated for release later this year, although specific dates remain under wraps.
While no other projects have been officially announced, excitement is building for the upcoming Nintendo Direct, scheduled to air on Wednesday, April 2nd, 2025. Although the exact broadcast time will be announced later on Nintendo's official website and social media, the event is expected to focus on the Nintendo Switch 2. Fans are eagerly anticipating reveals and teasers of exclusive titles for the new console.
The Nintendo Switch 2 is set to make its debut later this year, with the financial report hinting at a launch in the second half. To build anticipation, Nintendo is organizing the Nintendo Switch 2 Experience events across 15 global locations, including New York, Tokyo, and Amsterdam, starting in April. While registration for most events has closed, fans can still join a waitlist for a chance to win tickets. For those in Japan, ticket applications are open until February 20th JST.

In a move to further extend its IPs beyond gaming, Nintendo is bringing the magic of Super Nintendo World to the United States. Set to open on May 22nd, 2025, at Universal Orlando Resort's Universal Epic Universe in Orlando, Florida, this will be the second Super Nintendo World location in the country, following its debut in Universal Studios Hollywood in February 2023. Visitors can immerse themselves in the vibrant landscapes of Super Mario Land and the lush tropics of Donkey Kong Country right from the park's opening day.
Nintendo is also planning to expand Super Nintendo World to Universal Studios Singapore in 2025, though further details on this development are yet to be disclosed.
