World of Warcraft Patch 11.1: A Tribute to Mats Steen and Undermine's Expansion

World of Warcraft's upcoming Patch 11.1, potentially releasing around February 25th, introduces significant new content, including an expansion of the Undermine area. However, a particularly heartwarming addition is the inclusion of Lord Ibelin Redmoore, an NPC directly referencing the late Mats Steen, the subject of the documentary "The Remarkable Life of Ibelin."

This tribute NPC, discovered by dataminers, holds the title of "Private Investigator," a nod to Steen's renowned roleplaying career within the game. Ibelin, Steen's in-game character, was a well-known member of the Starlight guild and a popular figure in Stormwind, known for his detective persona and interactions with other players.

While the exact nature of the in-game tribute remains a mystery, speculation suggests Ibelin might be found in Stormwind taverns or perhaps following a route that mirrored Steen's real-life travels within the game world. The NPC's appearance in a Public Test Realm build before the official patch release is also a possibility.

This marks the third tribute to Ibelin within World of Warcraft. Previous memorials include a recreation of his real-life grave and a charity bundle featuring a Reven fox pet and backpack, benefiting CureDuchenne. These gestures highlight the profound impact Steen had on the World of Warcraft community.
