World of Warcraft Delays Plunderstorm Launch

Summary

  • World of Warcraft's Plunderstorm event has been delayed due to unforeseen technical issues.
  • A new launch time has not yet been announced.
  • Players can enjoy other WoW activities while waiting for Plunderstorm's return.

World of Warcraft has unexpectedly delayed the launch of its second Plunderstorm event due to unforeseen technical problems. While the game aims to launch Plunderstorm before the end of January 14th, players will need to exercise a bit more patience than initially anticipated to enjoy this popular battle royale mode again.

Plunderstorm, a pirate-themed battle royale mode introduced during the Dragonflight expansion in 2024, was slated to return on January 14th, 2025, boasting both returning and brand-new rewards. However, unforeseen issues arose during the planned rollout. While the initial six-hour maintenance period was extended to eight hours, with servers scheduled to return at 3 PM PST, further unexpected problems emerged, delaying the launch indefinitely. Although Blizzard hopes to have Plunderstorm operational before the end of January 14th, a concrete new launch time remains unavailable.

When is Plunderstorm Live in World of Warcraft?

  • Before the end of January 14th, pending resolution of unforeseen issues.

Fortunately, World of Warcraft's regular servers are back online. Players eagerly awaiting Plunderstorm can still enjoy other in-game activities, such as completing Siren Isle weeklies, participating in the second week of the Turbulent Timeways event, or engaging in other content within The War Within.

This second iteration of Plunderstorm introduces exciting new features, including the Plunderstore and an in-game event interface accessible while logged in. These new features may be contributing to the current technical difficulties. Hopefully, Blizzard will resolve these issues swiftly, allowing players to resume their plundering adventures.

The delay hasn't impacted the availability of new Plunderstorm Twitch Drops. Players can earn the Coward's Azure Target transmog by watching four hours of any World of Warcraft Twitch streamer before February 4th at 10 AM PST. The streamer doesn't need to be playing Plunderstorm, offering players a way to earn rewards while they wait for the event's return.
