Wizards of the Coast Senior Game Designer Adam Prosak explains, "Three-color limited environments require ample mana fixing across all rarities. Our goal was to ensure that players could access mana fixing easily, so we developed several designs to address this. These creatures enable you to both develop your board and fix your mana simultaneously, which is a significant advantage over other designs like tapped lands that merely provide mana."
