Tokyo analyst Serkan Toto confidently stated to Bloomberg, "They will sell boatloads of Switch 2 in the first months in particular, almost regardless of the price."

The anticipated success of the Switch 2 at launch is largely due to the high demand for its initial lineup of games. Toto expects a new Mario Kart, hinted at by Nintendo during the Switch 2 reveal, a new 3D Mario game, and the already announced Pokémon Legends: Z-A and Metroid Prime 4, all set to release within the first year. Additionally, Toto anticipates strong third-party support, including Call of Duty from Activision. There's also a long list of rumored third-party titles, such as Civilization 7, which its developer Firaxis finds the Switch 2's Joy-Con mouse mode "definitely intriguing." French game and accessory maker Nacon has confirmed they have games ready for the Switch 2, including Greedfall 2, Test Drive Unlimited, and RoboCop: Rogue City. The much-anticipated Hollow Knight: Silksong is also rumored to be coming to the console. Last month, EA mentioned that Madden, FC, and The Sims would be well-suited for the Switch 2. However, Activision has yet to announce its plans, and Nintendo has not commented on the report.

The expected release date for the Switch 2 is June 2025, as suggested by Japan-based analyst Robin Zhu of Sanford C. Bernstein in a Bloomberg interview. Zhu predicts an initial stock of 6-8 million units, which, if sold out quickly, could see the Switch 2 outselling its predecessor and the PlayStation 4 and 5, setting new records.

The Joy-Con mouse theory has gained traction, and last month, a Nintendo patent suggested that the Switch 2's Joy-Con controllers could be attached upside down. This new feature uses gyro mechanics similar to those in smartphones without screen lock. Unlike the original Switch, which used rails for Joy-Con attachment, the new controllers use magnets, allowing them to be attached on either side. This design change won't significantly impact the hardware but will give players more flexibility in button placement and potentially introduce new gameplay mechanics.
