"Star Wars: KOTOR Remake Still in Development, Developer Confirms"

Author:Kristen Update:Apr 22,2025

Saber Interactive continues to assure fans that all its previously announced games remain in active development, despite the lack of updates on high-profile projects like the Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic (KOTOR) remake. Following the recent announcement of Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 3, Saber's Chief Creative Officer, Tim Willits, took to social media to reinforce this message.

"Saber Interactive stands as one of the largest independent developers globally," Willits stated. "Our portfolio spans numerous games across a wide variety of genres. Rest assured, everything we've announced is still being worked on. We'll provide updates on these upcoming games when we have exciting news to share."

The most anticipated of these projects is undoubtedly the KOTOR remake, which has been shrouded in mystery since its announcement in 2021. The game has undergone multiple developer transitions, experienced apparent development halts and restarts, and yet, after four years, has not been released. In April 2024, Saber Interactive's CEO, Matthew Karch, confirmed that the KOTOR project was retained by Saber during its separation from Embracer Group and remains actively developed.

"It's clear and it's obvious that we're working on this," Karch emphasized at the time. "It's been widely reported. What I can say is that the game is alive and well, and we're committed to surpassing consumer expectations."

Willits' recent statement, nearly a year later, echoes Karch’s sentiments, reaffirming their dedication. However, fans are still awaiting any new visuals or information beyond the initial announcement video for the KOTOR remake.

In addition to the KOTOR remake, Saber Interactive is developing several other titles, including John Carpenter's Toxic Commando and Jurassic Park Survival, both slated for 2025, though without confirmed release dates. The studio is also crafting a new Turok game and an untitled project based on Avatar: The Last Airbender. With the addition of Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 3, Saber's lineup continues to expand.
