EA and Maxis are celebrating the 25th anniversary of The Sims franchise with an exciting announcement. Both The Sims 1 and The Sims 2 are now available on PC again, thanks to the release of The Sims: Legacy Collection and The Sims 2: Legacy Collection. These collections are offered individually or bundled together in The Sims 25th Birthday Bundle, priced at $40.

Each game in the collections comes with all expansions and nearly all stuff packs. The only exception is The Sims 2: Legacy Collection, which is missing the IKEA Home Stuff pack from 2008. Additionally, The Sims 1 includes a bonus Throwback Fit Kit, while The Sims 2 comes with a Grunge Revival Kit, enhancing the original content with these unique additions.

EA's decision to re-release these classic games marks the first time in over a decade that both titles have been readily available for play. Previously, The Sims 1 was only available on disc, making it difficult to play on modern Windows machines without an old physical copy. The Sims 2 was last accessible through the Ultimate Collection on EA's Origin store in 2014, but that was discontinued. These new collections now make all four The Sims games easily purchasable and playable through digital platforms.

In our original reviews, The Sims 1 received a 9.5/10, and The Sims 2 was rated at 8.5/10. While the series has evolved with new features and improvements, the original games remain noteworthy for their charm, simplicity, challenge, and historical significance.

The Sims: Legacy Collection and The Sims 2: Legacy Collection are available now on Steam, the Epic Games Store, and the EA app, allowing fans old and new to enjoy these classic titles once again.
