Fans of *The Last of Us* have something exciting to look forward to this April. HBO has officially announced that Season 2 will premiere on Sunday, April 13 at 9pm ET/PT, and will be available to stream on Max. The new season will consist of seven episodes, and HBO has celebrated the announcement with the release of striking new character posters featuring Joel, Ellie, and Abby.

Set five years after the gripping events of the first season, *The Last of Us* Season 2 will continue the journey of Joel and Ellie, now living with Joel's brother Tommy in their Montana commune. This season will delve into the narrative of the second game in the series, *The Last of Us Part II*, promising familiar yet intense developments for fans of the game.

Joining the returning stars Pedro Pascal as Joel and Bella Ramsey as Ellie are several new cast members. Kaitlyn Dever will portray Abby, Isabela Merced will take on the role of Dina, Young Mazino will play Jesse, Ariela Barer will be seen as Mel, and Tati Gabrielle will step into the shoes of Nora. Interestingly, Gabrielle is also set to star as the main protagonist in Naughty Dog's upcoming game, *Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet*.

The first season of *The Last of Us* was a phenomenal success for HBO. Co-created by Craig Mazin of *Chernobyl* fame and Neil Druckmann, head of Naughty Dog, the series not only captivated audiences but also garnered numerous Primetime Creative Arts Emmy Awards. It was also nominated for five Primetime Emmys, including categories like Outstanding Drama Series, Lead Actor, Lead Actress, Outstanding Director, and Outstanding Writing.

The overwhelming success of the initial season has HBO eager for more. Francesca Orsi from HBO has hinted at the series potentially running for a total of four seasons, indicating that Season 2 will not cover the entire story of *The Last of Us Part II*.
