Rocksteady Studio Cuts Workforce Amid Financial Fallout

Rocksteady Studios, the creator of Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League, announced further layoffs in late 2024, affecting programmers, artists, and testers. This follows September's layoffs, which halved the testing team's size.

The studio has struggled throughout 2024 to maintain the struggling Suicide Squad game, which reportedly cost Warner Bros. approximately $200 million in losses. No further updates are planned for 2025, though servers will remain active.

These cuts weren't isolated to Rocksteady; Games Montreal, another Warner Bros. studio, also laid off 99 employees in December.

The game's early access release exacerbated the situation. Players encountered numerous bugs, including server outages and a significant plot spoiler. Negative reviews from major gaming publications and widespread gameplay complaints led to a massive 791% surge in refund requests, according to McLuck analytics.

Rocksteady's future projects remain unannounced.
