Neil Druckmann Says 'Don't Bet on' There Being a The Last of Us Part 3

For those eagerly awaiting news of The Last of Us Part III, renowned series creator Neil Druckmann has delivered a disheartening update. In a recent interview with Variety, primarily focused on the Last of Us TV series, Druckmann effectively dashed hopes for a third game. When questioned about the possibility, he sighed and stated, "I was waiting for this question. I guess the only thing I would say is don’t bet on there being more of ‘Last of Us.’ This could be it.”

While Druckmann's statement is certainly discouraging, it doesn't entirely rule out a future Part III. Naughty Dog is currently engrossed in the development of Intergalactic, a title unveiled at The Game Awards 2022, with no release date currently announced. This substantial project likely occupies a significant portion of the studio's resources for the foreseeable future. Druckmann's comments might be strategic ambiguity, or perhaps a reflection of current priorities. Time, of course, will tell.

For fans craving more Last of Us content, the highly anticipated second season of the HBO Max series premieres April 13th. Although Druckmann remains uncertain about the series' total length, an HBO executive suggested a four-season run.
