Renowned Windows Central editor and insider, Jez Corden, has confirmed reports that Microsoft is developing a Gears of War collection. Recent rumors suggested the collection would exclude the franchise's multiplayer mode, a claim Corden corroborated. He clarified that while competitive online multiplayer won't be included, cooperative gameplay and the main story campaigns will remain accessible.

The official announcement for this Gears of War collection may arrive as early as the upcoming Xbox Showcase in June, according to industry sources. While the exact titles remain unconfirmed, speculation points towards the inclusion of the first three games in the series.
Development on the next mainline entry, Gears of War: E-Day, continues using Unreal Engine 5 for PC and Xbox Series X/S. While leaks suggest a possible late 2024 release, Corden believes a 2026 release is more likely.
