Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 Shows No Sign of Slowing Down, Sells 2 Million Copies in Less Than 2 Weeks

The success of Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 continues to soar, with the game now having sold an impressive 2 million copies within just two weeks of its release. Developer Warhorse Studios celebrated this milestone on Twitter, describing the achievement as a "triumph," echoing their sentiments when the game hit the 1 million sales mark a day after its launch.

This remarkable performance is a testament to the dedication behind the medieval Europe action role-playing game sequel, which hit the shelves on February 4 for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X and S. Last week, Warhorse Studios' parent company, Embracer, highlighted the game's strong performance on Steam, boasting over 250,000 peak concurrent players. To put this into perspective, the original Kingdom Come: Deliverance reached a peak of 96,069 concurrent players on Steam seven years ago.

It's important to remember that the actual peak concurrent player count for Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 is likely higher, considering its availability across console platforms as well. However, specific player numbers from Sony and Microsoft are not publicly disclosed.

Embracer, through its subsidiary Plaion, praised Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 for its success in terms of player and critic reception, as well as its financial performance. Embracer CEO Lars Wingefors expressed his pride in the efforts of Warhorse Studios and publisher Deep Silver, stating, "This reflects the dedication and hard work of our development studio, Warhorse Studios, and our publisher, Deep Silver."

Wingefors is optimistic about the game's future, predicting that Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 will continue to generate significant revenue in the coming years. He credits the game's quality, immersion, and appeal, and mentioned Warhorse Studios' plans for updates and new content over the next 12 months to keep the game fresh and engaging for its community.

"We are immensely proud of the teams involved in the successful release of Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2, which has significantly outperformed our expectations so far," Wingefors added.

Looking ahead, Kingdom Come Deliverance 2's post-launch roadmap includes three expansions planned for 2025. Spring will bring free updates, including a Barbers feature with additional customization options, Hardcore Mode, and Horse Racing. The first paid content drop, "Brushes with Death," is slated for summer, where players will follow protagonist Henry as he assists a mysterious artist with a shadowy past. Autumn will see the release of the "Legacy of the Forge" expansion, delving into Henry's past and his adoptive father Martin's history. Finally, the winter expansion, "Mysteria Ecclesia," will have Henry on a covert mission navigating the complexities of the Sedlec Monastery.
