New J-Exclusive RPG Emberstoria Hits Stores Tomorrow

Emberstoria, a new strategy RPG from Square Enix, launches exclusively in Japan on November 27th. The game, available for pre-download, features a dramatic storyline set in the world of Purgatory, where resurrected warriors called Embers battle monsters. The game boasts a classic Square Enix style, with a bombastic narrative, impressive art, and a diverse cast of characters voiced by over 40 actors. Players build their own flying city, Anima Arca, while progressing through the compelling story.

While a Western release isn't currently confirmed, anticipation is high. This release follows news of Square Enix transferring Octopath Traveler: Champions of the Continent's operations to NetEase, raising questions about Square Enix's future mobile strategy. This new title, Emberstoria, may offer clues. It could remain Japan-exclusive or potentially see a global launch via NetEase. The path to a global release, however, is likely to be complex.
