Melinoe and Foes Get Stronger

"Our first Major Update is finally here," announced developer Supergiant Games today, unveiling Hades 2's first major update, The Olympic Update. "In the coming weeks, we will be closely monitoring player feedback to ensure our latest changes are solid." Hades 2 has just rolled out The Olympic Update, bringing a host of exciting additions including a new region, a weapon to master, more characters, new Animal Familiars to bond with, and much more!

Here are the highlights of Hades 2's "practically mountain-sized" The Olympic Update:

• New Region: Can you reach Olympus, the mountain of the gods? And if so... can you save it?
• New Weapon: Wield the otherworldly might of Xinth, the Black Coat — the last of the Nocturnal Arms.
• New Characters: Track down two new allies on their home turf and earn their favor.
• New Familiars: You can now bond with two new animal companions... once you find them!
• Crossroads Renewal: Unlock dozens of new cosmetic items to liven up the Crossroads your way.
• Expanded Story: Discover hours of new dialogue as the plot thickens once you reach the new Region.
• World Map: Look for this new presentation when moving from one Region of the world to another.
• Mac Support: The game now runs natively on Macs with Apple M1 or later.

Hades 2, the sequel to Supergiant Games' acclaimed 2020 roguelike action-adventure title, is currently in its early access phase. The full game, along with console launches, is expected around next year. Released on PC early access in May, Hades 2 has been praised for its solid replay value and substantial content at this stage of development. With its first major update, Hades 2 adds even more hours of content, including new dialogue and voice lines as the game's plot unfolds further—and things will surely heat up with the addition of Olympus, the mythical home of the Greek gods that houses the throne of Zeus.

In addition to these exciting updates, a number of Nocturnal Arms and Abilities have been reworked, such as the Specials for the Witch's Staff, Sister Blades, Umbral Flames, and Moonstone Axe, helping Melinoe adapt to your preferred playstyle. Melinoe's Dash has also been reworked to be faster and more responsive, making it easier to dash out of hit-stun attacks. As Melinoe receives a refresh, so do your enemies and the dangers that lurk.

Supergiant Games has introduced a variety of new enemies to accompany the all-new Mt. Olympus region, including new Wardens and a new Guardian. Moreover, with the addition of a third region, various adjustments to enemies on the Surface have been implemented:

• Chronos: Reduced downtime between phases; other minor adjustments.
• Eris: Various adjustments; in a surprisingly rational turn, she no longer is as prone to standing in flames.
• Infernal Beast: Resurfaces sooner after the battle's first phase; various minor adjustments.
• Polyphemus: No longer summons Elite foes; other minor adjustments.
• Charybdis: Reduced number of phases; flails with increased intensity and reduced downtime.
• Headmistress Hecate: Now loses invulnerability sooner after her Sisters of the Dead are vanquished.
• For certain ranged-attacking foes, fewer of them will fire at you all at once.
• Various other minor changes to foes and combat encounters.
