Final Fantasy VII Remake Part 3 development well underway - game director

Hamaguchi, the game director, assures fans that development on the next installment is progressing well, though he requests patience as further details will be revealed later.

2024 proved a triumphant year for Final Fantasy VII Rebirth, the second part of the trilogy, garnering numerous accolades and capturing global attention. The developers aim to broaden the FFVII fanbase with the third game, promising unique challenges.

Hamaguchi also cited Grand Theft Auto VI as a noteworthy game of the year, expressing his understanding of the immense pressure on the Rockstar Games team given GTA V's phenomenal success.

Specifics about the third game remain undisclosed, but the development is reportedly progressing smoothly. Considering the recent release of Final Fantasy VII Rebirth less than a year ago, Hamaguchi hints at a truly unique player experience.

Despite this positive outlook, Final Fantasy XVI's May 2024 launch sales underperformed, falling short of initial projections. While exact sales figures remain unannounced for both XVI and Rebirth, Square Enix maintains that Rebirth's sales aren't a complete failure and that XVI still has potential to meet its targets within the allotted 18-month timeframe.
