ESO Character Contest Hinting 'The Elder Scrolls 6' Release Date

Author:Kristen Update:Feb 22,2025

The Elder Scrolls VI's release date remains shrouded in mystery, much like its Grand Theft Auto VI counterpart. Recent speculation, however, has ignited within the community, fueled by Bethesda's latest Make-A-Wish initiative.

Bethesda announced a silent auction where the winning bidder collaborates with Bethesda Game Studios to design an NPC for Elder Scrolls VI. All proceeds benefit Make-A-Wish. While a noble cause, this action has inadvertently become a focal point for release date predictions.

Reddit user "FartingSlowly" noted a parallel between this initiative and a similar Starfield campaign. The Starfield campaign launched approximately two and a half years before the game's September 2023 release. Extrapolating this timeframe, FartingSlowly suggests a September 27, 2027, release for Elder Scrolls VI. However, they acknowledge the tenuous nature of this prediction.

This theory has been met with skepticism. Some argue that the Starfield Make-A-Wish announcement was closer to the game's original November 2022 release date, potentially shifting the Elder Scrolls VI prediction to November 2026.

Poll: Next-Gen Xbox Release

The anticipation is palpable. The Elder Scrolls VI's announcement in June 2018 feels like a lifetime ago – it's now as old as Skyrim was at the time of its announcement. Bethesda confirmed the game entered "early development" in August 2023, with "early builds" surfacing in March 2024. Even Bethesda's Todd Howard acknowledged the lengthy development time.

Initial projections placed the release in 2028 or later, potentially coinciding with the next generation of consoles. A 2028 launch would mark an incredible 17-year gap since Skyrim's release. Until an official date is announced, speculation will continue to reign. For now, we can only refer to the currently available information on The Elder Scrolls VI.
