DOOM: The Dark Ages Unveils New Marauder

Author:Kristen Update:Apr 11,2025

Introducing Agadon the Hunter, a formidable new adversary set to take the place of the Marauder in the upcoming game, DOOM: The Dark Ages. Unlike a mere upgrade, Agadon is a completely unique foe, blending characteristics from various bosses. This enemy has the ability to dodge, evade attacks, and even deflect projectiles aimed by the Doom Slayer. Players will face a variety of combo attacks, necessitating the use of a sawtooth shield—a nod to the mechanics seen in Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice, a game that significantly inspired the developers. The confrontation with Agadon serves as the ultimate test of the skills players have honed throughout the game, akin to a final exam.

The developers have chosen to maintain the concept of a challenging boss akin to the Marauder, confident that players are eager for a heightened challenge. The issue with the Marauder wasn't the difficulty itself but rather how it was introduced and explained. Many elements crucial to defeating the Marauder were not previously utilized in the campaign, resulting in some player dissatisfaction due to a sudden shift in gameplay pace. The developers aim to rectify this by ensuring a smoother integration of mechanics and better preparation for players.

DOOM: The Dark Ages is slated for release on May 15, 2025, and will be available on current-gen consoles (PS5, Xbox Series) and PC (Steam).
