How To Disable Crossplay in Black Ops 6 on Xbox and PS5

The rise of cross-platform play has revolutionized online gaming, uniting the *Call of Duty* community in unprecedented ways. However, this convenience isn't without its drawbacks. This guide explains how to disable crossplay in *Black Ops 6* and the implications of doing so.

Should You Disable Crossplay in Black Ops 6?

Disabling crossplay in Black Ops 6 presents a trade-off. Many players opt to disable it for a perceived fairer playing field, particularly console players seeking to avoid the perceived advantages of PC players using mouse and keyboard. The superior precision of mouse aiming and the potential for mods and cheats (despite Ricochet Anti-Cheat) are common concerns. Disabling crossplay aims to reduce encounters with cheaters.

However, a significant drawback is the reduced player pool, leading to longer matchmaking times and potentially less stable connections. Our experience shows that disabling crossplay often results in longer wait times and less optimal online experiences.

How to Turn Off Crossplay in Black Ops 6

Black Ops 6 Crossplay Settings

Disabling crossplay in Black Ops 6 is simple. Locate the Crossplay and Crossplay Communications toggles in the Account & Network settings. Toggle these settings from "On" to "Off" using X or A. This can be accessed from within Black Ops 6, Warzone, or the main Call of Duty menu. Note that the image shows the setting accessed via Quick Settings after being added as a favorite.

You might find the setting greyed out in certain game modes. Previously, Call of Duty enforced crossplay in modes like Ranked Play. While intended to promote fairness, this often had the opposite effect. Thankfully, Season 2 of Black Ops 6 allows disabling crossplay in more game modes, giving players greater control over their opponents.

Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 is available now on PlayStation, Xbox, and PC.
