Digimon Alysion: A Story Mode in the Pokemon TCG Rival

Digimon enthusiasts have much to look forward to following the exciting announcements at DIGIMON CON 2025. Bandai Namco unveiled their latest project, Digimon Alysion, a new mobile trading card game (TCG) that aims to capture the hearts of fans and compete with other popular mobile TCGs like Pokémon TCG Pocket and Marvel Snap. Digimon Alysion promises to be a free-to-play experience where players can collect cards featuring various Digimon and characters, build their decks, and engage in battles with other players. What sets Digimon Alysion apart is its inclusion of an in-depth story mode, offering players a richer experience beyond traditional and competitive gameplay.

The announcement was accompanied by a trailer that provided a glimpse into the gameplay and introduced an all-female cast speculated to be part of the story mode. New characters such as Kanata Hondo, Futre, and Valner Dragnogh were introduced, along with a new Digimon called Gemmon. While no specific release date was announced, a closed beta test is on the horizon, with more details to be shared soon.

In addition to Digimon Alysion, DIGIMON CON 2025 shed more light on Digimon Story: Time Stranger. Producer Ryosuke Hara discussed the game's background, main characters, and showcased the special moves of some featured Digimon. The game will allow players to choose from three starter Digimon from the original Digimon Adventure anime: Patamon, Gomamon, and DemiDevimon, confirming fan speculations based on promotional artwork.

Digimon Story: Time Stranger boasts an impressive roster of over 450 Digimon, including fan favorites like Angewomon, Gallantmon, and Agumon, surpassing the total number of Digimon in its predecessor, Digimon Story: Cyber Sleuth - Hacker’s Memory. The game's narrative revolves around time travel, with players choosing between protagonists Dan Yuki and Kanan Yuki, both secret agents for the organization ADAMAS. They will be joined by the main heroine, Inori Misono, and her partner Aegiomon, as they navigate through time to uncover mysterious threats to humans and Digimon.

The event also highlighted other exciting developments within the Digimon franchise, including a 25th Anniversary PV for the Digimon Anime, new starter decks and booster packs for the Digimon Trading Card Game, and the announcement of a new anime series, Digimon Beatbreak, set to premiere in October 2025.
