China-Exclusive Closed Beta Test Announced for Neverness to Everness

Author:Kristen Update:Dec 12,2024

Hotta Studios' upcoming 3D open-world RPG, Neverness to Everness, is gearing up for its first closed beta test. Unfortunately, this initial test will be exclusive to mainland China. However, eager fans worldwide can still follow the game's progress as it approaches release.

Gematsu recently provided a glimpse into the game's lore, offering further details on the narrative's blend of humor and the intriguing juxtaposition of the bizarre and the ordinary within the game's Hetherau setting. Trailers showcasing the city of Eibon have already provided a taste of this unique atmosphere (see below).

Hotta Studios, a subsidiary of Perfect World (creators of the successful Tower of Fantasy), is venturing into a crowded 3D RPG market increasingly characterized by urban settings. Neverness to Everness, however, aims to stand out with a distinctive feature: open-world driving. Players can expect the thrill of high-speed city chases, complete with realistic damage mechanics—though hopefully, unlike real life, they won't need to contact the authorities afterwards! Car customization options are also promised.

The game faces significant competition upon release, notably from MiHoYo's Zenless Zone Zero and NetEase's Ananta (formerly Project Mugen), both of which occupy similar niches within the mobile 3D open-world RPG genre.
