Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Gossip Girl Actress Michelle Trachtenberg Dies Aged 39

Michelle Trachtenberg, the actress known for her roles in Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Gossip Girl, has died at the age of 39, according to reports. Police sources indicate her death is not considered suspicious.

ABC News reported that Trachtenberg's mother discovered her deceased on Wednesday in her New York City apartment near Columbus Circle. ABC News further stated that Trachtenberg had recently undergone a liver transplant and may have experienced subsequent complications.

Authorities believe her death was due to natural causes, and foul play is not suspected. An autopsy is pending to determine the official cause and manner of death.

Trachtenberg's career began at age nine with a role in the 1990s Nickelodeon series, The Adventures of Pete and Pete. Her film debut followed in 1996's Harriet the Spy. She gained widespread recognition for her portrayal of Dawn Summers in Buffy the Vampire Slayer (2000-2003), alongside Sarah Michelle Gellar. Other notable roles include Jenny in EuroTrip (2004), Casey Carlyle in Ice Princess (2005), and her memorable performance as Georgina Sparks in Gossip Girl (2007-2012), a role she reprised in the HBO Max sequel series.
