Author:Kristen Update:Jan 04,2025

Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 receives two beloved game modes and a classic map this week, hot on the heels of its launch and a recent update addressing player feedback.

Infection and Nuketown Arrive This Week

Treyarch, the developer behind Black Ops 6, announced via Twitter (now X) the arrival of the popular "Infected" mode and the iconic Nuketown map. Infected, a fan-favorite party mode, drops tomorrow, pitting survivors against player-controlled zombies. Nuketown, the classic map inspired by 1950s nuclear test sites, joins the fray on November 1st. This follows Activision's earlier promise of regular post-launch content additions. Black Ops 6 launched October 25th with 11 standard multiplayer modes, including variations with disabled Scorestreaks and a Hardcore mode.

Black Ops 6 Update Addresses Post-Launch Issues

A recent update tackled various multiplayer and Zombies mode issues. Team Deathmatch, Control, Search & Destroy, and Gunfight now boast increased XP and weapon XP rates. Activision confirmed ongoing monitoring of XP rates across all modes. Here's a summary of resolved issues:

  • Global: Resolved loadout highlighting, Bailey's operator animation, and the "Mute Licensed Music" setting functionality.
  • Maps: Addressed exploits allowing players to leave the intended play area on Babylon, Lowtown, and Red Card. Improved Red Card stability and general in-game interaction stability.
  • Multiplayer: Fixed matchmaking issues preventing quick player replacements, resolved a Private Match forfeit bug, and addressed a continuous Dreadnought missile sound effect.

Further updates are planned to address remaining issues, such as player deaths during Search & Destroy loadout selection. Despite these minor launch hiccups, Black Ops 6 is considered by many to be a top-tier Call of Duty title, particularly praising its enjoyable campaign. [Link to Game8's review]
