Beginner's Guide to Mastering Rune Slayer

Author:Kristen Update:Apr 13,2025

After two failed launches and months of anticipation, Rune Slayer has finally hit the scene, and it's nothing short of spectacular. Whether you're new to the world of MMORPGs or a seasoned veteran, diving into Rune Slayer can be both exhilarating and overwhelming. Fear not, as we've crafted a comprehensive guide to help you navigate your early adventures in this thrilling game.

Rune Slayer Beginner Tips

Here are some essential tips we wish we had known from the start to make your journey smoother.

Do Not Randomly Attack Other Players

When we first heard about Rune Slayer's full-loot PvP system, we braced for a relentless battleground. However, our fears were largely unfounded. In Rune Slayer, death doesn't mean losing your possessions, even at the hands of other players. You simply respawn and continue your adventure.

However, if you choose to attack others, you'll accrue a bounty. The more players you kill, the larger your bounty grows, and consequently, the more items you'll drop upon death. Thus, the only way to experience full-loot PvP is by initiating combat and then getting defeated. Our advice? Avoid attacking other players unless you have a solid reason or a group to support you.

Craft Bags ASAP

You'll quickly discover that both your bank and inventory space are quite limited. With a cap at 50 items, your inventory can fill up fast. To address this, Rune Slayer allows you to craft bags. You can equip up to two bags simultaneously, starting with the Cotton Bag.

To craft a Cotton Bag, gather Cotton from north of Wayshire and Flax from the south. Be cautious in the south due to dangerous mobs. Each Cotton Bag adds 10 extra slots to your inventory, so make crafting these a priority.

Your Pets Don’t Actually Die

A common misconception is that your tamed pets die when their health reaches zero. In reality, your pet can't be summoned for 5 minutes after "death." You can check this cooldown by holding T. Once the timer expires, hold T again to summon your pet back into action.

Bonus Tip: To quickly heal your pet, store and then unstore it at the stable master using your one free slot.

Grab All the Quests (Yes, All of Them)

Rune Slayer is packed with quests, most of which are non-repeatable and somewhat forgettable. They often follow the familiar "Kill 10 X" format seen in many MMORPGs. To streamline your questing experience, accept every quest you encounter, including those from the Job board. Completing multiple quests simultaneously is far more efficient, and you might even complete several at once without realizing it.

Craft Everything at Least Once (Even Things You Don’t Need)

While it's important to craft items you need, don't hesitate to use spare materials to craft items you might not immediately require. Crafting items for the first time can unlock new, more powerful crafts. For example, smelting your first Iron Ore can unlock a range of Iron Armor crafting options. So, experiment with your materials and unlock new crafting possibilities.

Join a Guild

Rune Slayer is friendly to solo players, but as you delve deeper into the game, you'll encounter tougher enemies designed for group combat. Joining a guild is the easiest way to find teammates. Use the general chat or the official Rune Slayer Discord server to connect with a guild and tackle those challenging foes together.

And that's it for our beginner's guide to Rune Slayer. Enjoy your adventures, and if you're yet to start, don't forget to check out the Rune Slayer Trello and Discord for more resources and community engagement.
