In a remarkable display of perseverance, a player known as b00lin fought a 763-day legal battle to overturn a ban issued by Activision and restore their reputation on Steam. b00lin chronicled this journey in a detailed blog post, sharing the ups and downs of the struggle.

The ordeal began after b00lin played over 36 hours of the Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 beta in December 2023. Initially, b00lin thought the ban might have been a result of errors during the testing phase. However, Activision upheld the ban even after b00lin reported the issue. While many players might have given up, b00lin chose to fight back.

Activision refused to provide any evidence of alleged cheating, citing security concerns. b00lin only requested "harmless" information like the name of the software being flagged, yet Activision remained steadfast in their secrecy.

The case eventually went to court, where it was revealed that Activision’s lawyers had no concrete proof of wrongdoing. It became clear that the company values anti-cheat secrecy highly. In a significant victory, the court ruled in favor of b00lin in early 2025, ordering Activision to cover legal fees and lift the ban. This victory not only restored b00lin's reputation but also set a precedent for players facing similar issues.
