Hnefatafl, a historical Scandinavian board game, predates chess and boasts variants played across medieval Europe. This "Tafl" game pits two armies of unequal size against each other: the black invaders seeking to capture the white king, and the white defenders striving to protect and escape with their king.
Often dubbed the "Game of the Vikings," Hnefatafl's narratives range from the Muscovite invasion of Sweden to Viking raids on Britain. The core remains constant: the thrilling king hunt.
