Battle of Sudoku: A Multiplayer Sudoku Showdown!

Love Sudoku and want to challenge friends? Battle of Sudoku is a multiplayer version where you compete against other players or teams. The goal remains the same: fill a 9x9 grid with digits so each column, row, and 3x3 subgrid contains all digits from 1 to 9.

Before starting, choose a difficulty level (1-6, 1 being easiest, 6 hardest). This sets the initial numbers, which all players must solve simultaneously. Everyone begins with the identical puzzle.

Game Modes:

The game offers two modes, selectable in the options:

Show Opponent's Correct Numbers: Each correctly placed number is visible to all players. Only the first player to correctly place a number earns points. Duplicate numbers are disallowed.
Hide Opponent's Correct Numbers: Correct numbers are hidden from other players, allowing multiple players to potentially earn points for the same number.

Time-Outs:

Incorrectly placed numbers result in a time-out (default 30 seconds, configurable). The penalized player is temporarily unable to make moves.

Points:

Correct numbers earn points, with higher difficulty levels awarding more points per correct placement. Incorrect numbers deduct half the points earned for a correct placement.

Winning:

The game ends when the puzzle is solved. The player with the most points wins. If "Show Opponent's Correct Numbers" is disabled, the game ends when one player solves the puzzle, though this doesn't grant extra points; others can still win based on fewer mistakes.

Team vs. Individual Play:

Team mode allows two teams to compete. Players select their team (1 or 2) upon joining. A minimum of two players per team is required. Points are added to the team's total score, and notes/colors are shared among teammates, enabling collaborative strategies.

Solving Tools:

A toolbar beneath the puzzle offers helpful tools:

Pen Tool: Add notes (mini-numbers) to squares as potential candidates. Selecting a number already present in a square removes it.
Fill Mode: Change the background color of squares (including solved ones).
